This is a very large Wall Plaque - 'Folies Bergere'. The Plaque is Bronze Patinated and depicts the stunning Gilt Decoration on the front of the famed Folies Beregere Parisian music hall founded in 1869 and noted for the lavish spectacle and mildly risqué content of its entertainments. When the vogue of nudity seized the music halls of Paris in 1894, the Folies elaborated it to such an extent that the theatre’s reputation for sensational displays of female nudity came to overshadow its other performances. This is a very striking Art Deco style Plaque in hand hammered brass with Bronze patination and please note the dimensions.
